Lease Return FAQ
How do I know when my lease term is ending?
If you have the original paperwork when you signed off on your lease, the lease end date will be there. If you can’t find the paperwork or still not sure, call the dealership where you leased your vehicle. They will be able to answer questions about your lease.
How do I return my leased vehicle?
Once you know that your lease term is ending soon, you can schedule an inspection of the lease vehicle. A leasing company will usually contact you to set up an appointment. They are usually looking for exterior and interior damage to the vehicle. After the inspection is over, you can schedule an appointment at dealerships that will accept your car lease return.
What is a lease inspection?
Lease inspection is completed by a 3rd party inspector. They are looking for any damage prior to returning the vehicle. For the exterior of the car, they are generally looking for dents, dings, scratches and scrapes, window cracks, and excessive tire wear. For the interior, they are generally looking for tears, stains that can’t be repaired or cleaned by normal means.
What should I do if my leased car is damaged?
Minor wear and tear throughout the lease isn’t an issue. If there is damage beyond that, it’s the lessee’s responsibility to repair the damage prior to returning the vehicle. You can also buy the leased vehicle if you do not wish to pay for the damage. Definitely give us a call to know what your options are.
How much do I have to pay in fees if my car is damaged?
That really depends on the type and extent of the damage on your leased vehicle. You may have to get an estimate from an auto body shop or repair shop.
