Four engines cover that spread: a 2.7L turbo four standard on WT through LTZ, a 5.3L V8 standard on LT Trail Boss, a 6.2L V8 standard on High Country and ZR2, and a 3.0L Duramax diesel available on most trims in between.

Every single one runs the same 1.2-liter turbo three-cylinder (137 hp, 162 lb-ft) through a 6-speed automatic, front-wheel drive only; there's no AWD option on this generation of Trax, on any trim, no matter how rugged ACTIV looks.
